  28. Win95 does list the Best Data Smart One 2834F modem.  Selecting the 
  29. Best Data Smart One 2834F will allow your modem to run just fine 
  30. under Win95.

  32. In many systems where you have a fax modem set to COM2 and a
  33. mouse on COM1 or the COM2 which came with the machine still
  34. enabled, intermittent conflicts may occur.  This can be caused
  35. by RF interference from the mouse which can affect the surrounding
  36. addresses--in this case, COM2.  Also, if your machine has a COM2
  37. port in the system and it is enabled, installing the modem set to
  38. COM2 would give your system 2 COM2 ports.  These can interfere with
  39. each other even though nothing is connected to the COM2 port.  These
  40. are the reasons we usually suggest changing the modem to COM4 (which
  41. has a base address of 02E8) IRQ3 instead of COM2 IRQ3.  The COM4
  42. address is far away enough from that mouse that the two will not
  43. interfere with each other and it is a different address than the
  44. COM2 Port (02F8).  If you are running under Windows, you need to make
  45. sure that the COM4 address is set to 02E8 and the IRQ to 3.

  47. For optimum performance from your 2834F/FX, you should configure
  48. your software with the following settings:
  49.  
  50.    Init String:  AT&F&C1&D2S7=60S95=3
  51.    Baud Rate:    57600 or 115200
  52.    Flow Control: HARDWARE (RTS/CTS)
