- Win95 does list the Best Data Smart One 2834F modem. Selecting the
- Best Data Smart One 2834F will allow your modem to run just fine
- under Win95.
-
- In many systems where you have a fax modem set to COM2 and a
- mouse on COM1 or the COM2 which came with the machine still
- enabled, intermittent conflicts may occur. This can be caused
- by RF interference from the mouse which can affect the surrounding
- addresses--in this case, COM2. Also, if your machine has a COM2
- port in the system and it is enabled, installing the modem set to
- COM2 would give your system 2 COM2 ports. These can interfere with
- each other even though nothing is connected to the COM2 port. These
- are the reasons we usually suggest changing the modem to COM4 (which
- has a base address of 02E8) IRQ3 instead of COM2 IRQ3. The COM4
- address is far away enough from that mouse that the two will not
- interfere with each other and it is a different address than the
- COM2 Port (02F8). If you are running under Windows, you need to make
- sure that the COM4 address is set to 02E8 and the IRQ to 3.
-
- For optimum performance from your 2834F/FX, you should configure
- your software with the following settings:
-
- Init String: AT&F&C1&D2S7=60S95=3
- Baud Rate: 57600 or 115200
- Flow Control: HARDWARE (RTS/CTS)
-
- Let us know if we can be of any further assistance.
